Information for Travelers
Albuquerque International Sunport . Though Santa Fe has a small airport, there are only a limited number of flights to and from Santa Fe. The preferred choice is to fly to the Albuquerque International Sunport (ABQ), which is serviced by all major US airlines. Santa Fe is about 100km from Albuquerque and can be reached from the Albuquerque airport by rental car or by shuttle services. There is a light rail service between the center of Albuquerque (not the airport) and Santa Fe, but this is not very convenient. Please note that SCES 2010 will not provide transportation between the Albuquerque airport and Santa Fe. Participants are responsible for arranging their own transportation.
Transport between Albuquerque and Santa Fe. At the Albuquerque International Sunport, rental car providers, eg., Hertz, Avis, Budget, Avis, Enterprise, are reached by the rental car shuttle bus that stops frequently outside the baggage claim area. You can also travel between Santa Fe and Albuquerque by train and shuttle service. The train takes you to within 2-6 blocks of the conference hotels. There is a bus from the airport to the train. The train is a beautiful ride through New Mexico landscape, but the schedule is limited. Please follow this link for more information about transport between Albuerque and Santa Fe.
Passport and Visa. Visiting the US from a foreign country requires a valid passport. Citizens of some countries also may be required to obtain a visa. Please contact your nearest USA Embassy or Consulate for visa requirements. The website http://travel.state.gov/visa/visa_1750.html may be a useful starting point. If you need a letter from the conference for your visa application, please contact the SCES 2010 Conference Organizer at sces2010@newmexicoconsortium.org for assistance. If the state department needs to confirm your participation in the conference, have them call Lesley Sarracino 505-412-4207.
